This presentation and activity covers the Boy Scout Geology Merit Badge under option (c) Mineral Resources Option. Included in this presentation and activity is a lecture covering what is a rock, mineral, and fossil. Characteristics of rocks and minerals. Minerals we use everyday. The Rock cycle. And, taking an egg carton and participating in the Geology walk to gather up all 15 rocks, minerals, and fossil samples (extras are included for those participating in the merit badge class than what is included otherwise). This presentation has limited space please pre-sign up so we can have enough supplies for all the students coming.
There are two time slots for Scout presentations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4H, and organized youth groups, homeschool groups are welcome to participate. We require at least one leader with each group be present. Cost is PER PERSON (leaders do not need to pay unless they also want to gather up a rock kit).
Please select one of the 2 time slots. Saturday or Sunday.
Saturday 1pm to 2pm - Please leave extra time to do the geology walk scavenger hunt.
Sunday 11am to 12pm - Please leave extra time to do the geology walk scavenger hunt.
To Redeem:
Once you arrive please check in with Adrienne McElwain at the Crystal Barista booth just inside the main expo doors (there will be a sign), the presentation will be held in the classroom Status 9 at the Davis Conference Center in Layton.
*Merit badge is not included but we will sign them off.
